if you buy a new computer, just think about your Ram, XP is not abled to have more than 4 GB Ram... if I am right.
If you want more like 6 or 8 GB you have to take Vista.... xD or Windows7
Regards, Daniel
Thath's not right. It isn't essential, whether you have XP or Vista. 32 bit or 64 makes the difference. With XP 32 bit you can only work with 3 or rather 3,5gb (If you put 4 gb in you computer you can work with 3,5gb). But with 64 bit you can work with much more (Don't know how much yet). But if you want to use a 64 bit OS you have to pay attention, because not every CPU can handle with 64 bit.
In my opinion, I would buy Windows 7, because in a few years much hardware and programs won't support xp anymore (XP ist 9 years old!).

Hmm I was just thinking of buying 10 GB of RAM . Why do i need 8 GB i was planing to by 3 GB(800MHz) of RAM but Hamza told me that 800 MHz is too slow and now i can't find anywere RAM DDR2(not DDR3) with more then 1064(something like that )(in my coutry)
Ther won't be a big difference between 800 mhz and 1066. You wouldn't notice anything. But if you wan't 1066 MHZ, just buy the 800 mhz and overclock it.
I hope, that it helps you

WoW man you really know how to explain something. thx and everyone else THX

I agree with Philipp!!!! But i thougt XP Home & Media (I hope these are the right names!) can only handle 3,5 gb ram and professional can handle 4gb but i'm not sure!! (But that doesn't matter)
Like Philipp siad if you want to have 1066mhz (and you only have 800mhz) you can overclock your ram, my ram is overclocked, too! You only have to watch at the TEMP AND the max VOLT of your CPU and motherboard I think 64bit can handle 16 Exabyte (im not sure) but you have to watch what the mobo can handle! For example my motherbord can handle max 32 gb ram, 16 Exabyte are 16.000.000 TB (i hope that is the right value ) Regards Tim

Oh i forgot something!!!! The "old" Intel CPUs (those with the FSB1333 (Front Side Bus)) can only receive 10gb/s because the memorycontroller is in the Northbridge! DDR2 with 667mhz have these 10gb/s!!!!! so DDR2 with 800 or more mhz at a FSB CPU isn't really faster than the 667 mhz one!!! The new Nehalem CPUs from Intel (I7 9XX, 8XX, I5 7XX, 6XX, I3 5XX), the westmere's (I5 6XX and I3 5XX) are nehalems only in 32nm, can handle more than 10gb/s! And the most AMDs, too (But i no expert with AMD!) Regards Tim

I had no problem with CoD2 installation CD (don't remember if i did autorun or not). I assume that your CD is broken or damaged and the cd driver can't read correctly the files.Try to download through any torrent the game and reinstall it.
The only thing i needed to do after installing CoD2 in Windows 7 was to install directx 9.
Well about Windows 7 many guys wrote lots of false things. Windows 7 is the best OS for games at the moment as it supports the latest directx version Windows 7 is compatible with every single program either this program was designed for XP, Vista. Windows 7 64bit version is way better and faster than Windows 7 32bit version. To use a 64bit version you need a decent and not really old computer.Only 64bit processors can run 64bit Operatin Systems.
My opinion is that Widnows 7 is by far the best OS of Microsoft.I've been using XP for 4-5 years and never switched to Vista. After the first offcial stable release i sticked to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit as it is the best and most compatible OS out there
cd is in mint condition and as i said installs ok by running setup.exe and have since found that is only the multiplayer game that won't run i get this error when i try to run multiplayer

Re: Windows 7 64bit Desc: is the update worth it
windows xp may be good but windows 7 is so much easier and faster. yes windows xp may be better at some things than 7 but to me it's outdated and needs to be left alone now with windows 7 leading the way! but don't go out and spend all your money on it just yet as microsoft have announced that they will soon be releasing a new operating system to replace windows 7! until a new name is found for it some people are calling it windows 8!

Re: Windows 7 64bit Desc: is the update worth it
Aaah thats very interresting Julian, Thanks for your wissdom Then I go starting to think about windows 8. Sounds cool
yes but if it is true that they are going to release a new OS just goes to show how crap Vista and Windows 7 are as they didn't last 5 minutes before they were replaced yet XP is still a very stable and reliable platform and whos to say the new OS will fare any better than the last 2 wannabe opperating systems
DOH!! now someone helped me sort out my probs with cod2 mp a while back but have reinstalled and forgot how to sort it out i do remember it was something to do with sound or Realtek HD manager but thats it lol does any one remember or know what it is i nead to do please....

I had helped you and guess what I remember how... GO to the Notification Area and right click on realtek's icon, then hit audio devices, go to the recording tab and enable stereo mix.
